About The Position

This role as a Design and Coaching Specialist will transform instructional practice across Chicago Public Schools by partnering with teachers, school leaders, and district leaders to strengthen mathematics instruction and build lasting leadership capacity. The ideal candidate is energized by solving complex instructional challenges, designing meaningful professional learning, and coaching educators toward measurable improvements in student outcomes.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional experience in education, including classroom teaching, instructional leadership, coaching, curriculum implementation, or related instructional improvement work.
• Deep expertise in K–8 mathematics and the Common Core State Standards, with the ability to support rigorous, standards-aligned instruction.
• Demonstrated success coaching teachers, teacher leaders, instructional coaches, or school leaders to improve instructional practice and student outcomes.
• Experience designing and facilitating high-quality professional learning that translates curriculum, standards, and instructional priorities into meaningful changes in educator practice.
• Strong analytical skills, with experience using classroom observations, student work, instructional artifacts, and implementation data to inform coaching, professional learning, and continuous improvement.
• The ability to build trusted partnerships with educators through professionalism, instructional credibility, reliability, and consistent follow-through.
• Willingness to travel regularly to support approximately 4–6 Chicago Public Schools, with occasional national travel for organizational retreats, professional development, and partnership-related work.
• AI fluency at the Practitioner level, including the ability to thoughtfully integrate AI tools into daily work to improve quality, efficiency, and decision-making while exercising sound professional judgment and responsible use.
• Must live within a 90-minute drive/train ride from the Chicagoland area.

• Expertise in K–8 mathematics instruction and the Common Core State Standards, with the ability to translate standards into rigorous, engaging instruction and help educators understand mathematical concepts, practices, and learning progressions.
• Experience with high-quality mathematics curricula and implementation, understanding how curriculum should come to life in classrooms and supporting materials such as Eureka Math Squared, Skyline, i-Ready, or comparable programs.
• Experience in instructional coaching that changes practice, including observing instruction, identifying areas for growth, delivering actionable feedback, and supporting educators through coaching cycles tied to clear goals and measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Partner with teachers, school leaders, and district leaders to strengthen mathematics instruction and build lasting leadership capacity.
• Design and facilitate professional learning experiences that are practical, evidence-based, aligned to curriculum, and responsive to the needs of educators and instructional leaders.
• Coach educators, teacher leaders, and school leaders to improve instructional practice and student outcomes.
• Analyze classroom observations, student work, surveys, progress-monitoring data, and leadership artifacts to inform coaching priorities and next steps.
• Help school-based leaders plan, facilitate, monitor, and strengthen professional learning.
• Build trusted relationships with educators through instructional credibility, reliability, and strong professional judgment.
• Organize work, adapt approaches, and maintain consistent follow-through while supporting several school communities.
• Collaborate with colleagues, school leaders, and district stakeholders to identify patterns, strengthen implementation, and improve mathematics instruction across schools.
• Integrate AI tools into daily work to improve quality, efficiency, and decision-making.
