About The Position

Boeing Global Services (BGS) is currently hiring for various experience levels for a Design and Analysis Engineer (Associate & Mid-Level) located in Long Beach, California. This position is to support the C-17 Avionics/Flight Controls Development Engineering team. The C-17 Globemaster III aircraft is a high-wing, four-engine, T-tailed aircraft with a rear-loading ramp, capable of carrying large combat equipment and troops or humanitarian aid across international distances directly to small austere airfields anywhere in the world, fulfilling military and humanitarian airlift needs well into the 21st century. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work with and perform subsystem/system level testing of autopilot, stability augmentation system, primary flight controls, high lift controls, and fly-by-wire control systems.

Requirements

  • 1 + years’ experience of Air Vehicle design or Systems Integration of Air Vehicle design.
  • 1 + years experience with aircraft systems including avionics, flight controls, hydraulics, fuel and integrated vehicle management systems.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 + years or more years of higher education and/or related work experience (Higher education includes college, university, technical school, licensing/certification programs, etc.).
  • 5+ years of experience with air vehicle systems.
  • Military or commercial aircraft program experience.
  • Experience working within a matrixed reporting organization.
  • Working knowledge of Matlab.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people and organizations.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills (oral and written).

Responsibilities

  • Work in a collaborative environment with other team members in the design, analysis, test, and sustainment of the C-17 Flight Control System.
  • Create subsystem and system level tests based on requirements.
  • Perform subsystem and system level tests in lab simulation facilities.
  • Perform flight test validation testing.
  • Document test findings, collaborate with systems focal/supplier to determine root cause on anomalies, and communicate with supplier during test program to mature a solution.
  • Ability to travel domestically in support of Lab/Flight Test and Air Force customer meetings may be required.
