About The Position

The South Bend Clinic is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to join their Dermatology team at the Mishawaka Day Road Plaza Clinic. This role involves expanding high-quality care and serving patient needs with expertise and dedication. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of experience in Dermatology as a licensed Advanced Practice Provider in a clinical setting. The South Bend Clinic is committed to making the Michiana community healthier by providing convenient primary, specialty, and urgent care services.

Requirements

Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
National certification in the applicable specialty (ANCC).
Current state licensure as Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Nurse and RN in the state of Indiana.
Maintains current CPR (BLS) certification.
Active Mid-level Practitioner Controlled Substance License and DEA License may be required based on prescriptive authority.
Strong analytical, interpretive, and problem-solving skills.
Proactive in multi-tasking and time management skills while ensuring patient care at a high level.
Detail-oriented in maintaining patient-related information and documenting patient progress.
Exceptional patient interaction demonstrating a friendly, approachable demeanor, effectively resolves customer complaints, and applies strong customer service principles to ensure a positive experience.

Nice To Haves

1-2 years experience in Dermatology as a licensed Advanced Practice Provider in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive skin examinations, conduct and interpret diagnostic testing, develop care plans.
Order diagnostic testing, skin biopsies, laboratory, x-ray, and/or other non-invasive diagnostic tests and procedures.
Initiate collaboration with supervising physicians, referrals to appropriate physicians or other health care professionals of problems that exceed the NPs scope of practice.
Maintain communication with referring physicians while continuing to provide exceptional patient care.
Prescribe medications within scope of practice, with collaborative physician oversight and necessary mid-level practitioner-controlled substance license.
Counsel patients on conditions, treatment options, and preventative measures, adjusting communication to the patient's age, psycho-social, and cultural needs to achieve optimal health outcomes in accordance with practice protocols.
