About The Position

Washington County is seeking a dependable and motivated Deputy Treasurer to join our Treasurer's Office team. This position plays a key role in serving the public, processing property tax payments, managing county revenues, and supporting daily financial operations. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Background in bookkeeping, accounting, finance, or related fields.
  • Two years of progressively responsible office or financial experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data entry systems.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to operate a 10-key calculator by touch.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with cash handling and balancing cash drawers is a plus.
  • Experience processing payments, reconciling accounts, or working with financial records is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and process tax payments and county revenues.
  • Post payments and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Prepare receipts, bank deposits, and daily balancing reports.
  • Assist customers in person and over the phone with tax-related questions.
  • Process electronic payments and credit card transactions.
  • Research tax accounts, delinquent taxes, and refund requests.
  • Support audits and maintain compliance with state and county regulations.
  • Prepare financial reports and update fund balances.
