About The Position

The Deputy Sheriff is a sworn law enforcement professional responsible for providing court security, serving civil and criminal process, transporting prisoners, and executing court orders as authorized by 42 Pa.C.S. § 2921 and applicable statutes. This role includes providing protective services for the Courts of Adams County and assisting other law enforcement agencies when requested and authorized by law under the direct supervision of the Sheriff or Chief Deputy Sheriff. A County of Adams Deputy Sheriff's main responsibility is to serve and protect the citizens of Adams County by providing security for the Courts, executing court orders, serving civil and criminal process, and ensuring the safety and integrity of the judicial system through professional, ethical, and dedicated service.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Complete the Pennsylvania Sheriff's Academy within (2) years from date of hire.

  • Legal / judicial experience
  • Certification as a law enforcement officer under PA Act 120 or a deputy sheriff under Act 2 or equivalent
