About The Position

The Lake County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for the position of Deputy Sheriff. This role is an opportunity to serve the community and embark on an exciting and fulfilling career in law enforcement. Lake County is known for its beautiful scenery, mountain ranges, outdoor activities, and Flathead Lake. As a Deputy Sheriff, you will respond to emergency calls, enforce the law, and perform other duties of the Sheriff's Office. Key tasks include accurate report writing, effective public interaction, and calmly handling stressful situations. The chosen candidate must be trustworthy and capable of handling sensitive, confidential information in accordance with Montana Law.

Requirements

Be a citizen of the United States
Be at least 18 years of age
Be fingerprinted and have a background check for criminal record
Not have been convicted of a crime for which the person could have been imprisoned in a federal or state penitentiary
Be of good moral character, as determined through a background investigation
Be a high school graduate or have passed the general education development (GED) test
Be examined by a licensed physician, appointed by the employing authority, to determine if the applicant is free from any mental or physical condition that might adversely affect performance of duties
Successfully complete an oral examination to demonstrate communication skills, temperament, motivation, and other necessary characteristics
Possess or be eligible for a valid Montana driver's license
