About The Position

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department is seeking an entry level officer to protect and serve the people of the county in all aspects of law enforcement and to comply with all statutory duties required by law.

Requirements

Possession of a high school diploma or GED
Must be 21 years of age upon graduation date from the law enforcement academy
Possess a valid driver’s license for the current state of residence
Willing to reside in the county after appointment
Be of good moral character
Have no felony convictions

Responsibilities

Patrol county roads in a patrol car with responsibilities for traffic control, investigate criminal complaints, prevent and detect crime or disturbances of the peace, investigate and assist with traffic accidents, and enforce the laws of the state of Kentucky and ordinances of the county and process all violators thereof.
Attend court, keep order and carry out orders of the courts.
Transport prisoners and convey all persons to the state penitentiary in execution of the sentence of the courts and execute all orders of the court in regards to conveying of prisoners.
Execute and serve civil and criminal process of the courts.
Collect property taxes as required by law.
