About The Position
Under general supervision by the shift supervisor, the Deputy Sheriff Level I ensures security and protects the facility's property. The role includes completing inmates' admission processes, preventing escapes, controlling inmate behavior, and protecting inmates from one another. The incumbent maintains an accurate inmate count, dispenses medication promptly, and takes inmates' personal property. The position requires adherence to department procedures to ensure inmates' constitutional rights are observed. This role does not supervise other employees.
