About The Position

Utah County Government is seeking dedicated individuals to launch their law enforcement careers as Deputy Sheriffs assigned to Corrections. This role is vital to maintaining the safety and security of the Utah County Security Center. This position offers a unique opportunity to be paid while attending training and to be sponsored through the Utah POST Academy to obtain your Basic Corrections Officer Certification. No prior law enforcement experience is required for the Deputy Sheriff I position.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 19 years old to attend POST Academy
• Valid driver’s license (Utah license required within 60 days of hire)
• Score at least 70% on each section of the Video Exam
• Complete the Physical Fitness Test: 1.5-mile run in 17 minutes or less, 30-second plank, 10 push-ups without rest
• Pass background investigation
• Pass polygraph examination
• Pass psychological evaluation
• Pass medical exam and drug screening
• Become POST certified within 12 months of hire

Nice To Haves

• A minimum of 18 months of certified corrections experience (for Deputy Sheriff II position)

Responsibilities

• Maintain the safety and security of the Utah County Security Center.
• Perform inmate booking.
• Manage inmate housing.
• Conduct inmate transportation.
• Supervise inmates.
• Oversee inmate work programs.
