Requirements

High school diploma or GED — or a mix of education, training, and experience that shows you’re ready for this role.
U.S. Citizenship
18 years of age or older
Valid Driver’s License
Current POST certification under the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Act
Ability to qualify and requalify with your service weapon twice a year after certification
GCIC Security & Awareness Training (must be completed within 10 days of hire)
First Aid & CPR Certification (within 3 months of hire)
Basic Jail Certification Course (within 6 months of hire)

Nice To Haves

At least 2 years of law enforcement related experience.

Responsibilities

Protect & Serve Your Community
Ensure the safety of inmates, coworkers, and the public in the jail or courthouse.
Step in during emergencies, de-escalate tensions, and respond with calm and confidence.
Be a presence in the community—helping people, not just policing them.
Maintain Safety & Order
Supervise up to 72 inmates with fairness and respect.
Conduct cell checks, respond to incidents, and handle inmate movement with care and professionalism.
Monitor security systems and enforce facility rules consistently.
Enforce the Law & Support the Courts
Serve warrants, make arrests, and support courtroom operations.
Transport prisoners safely and securely between facilities or courtrooms.
Support judges and court staff with safety and order in high-stakes environments.
Stay Sharp, Stay Ready
Train in defensive tactics, de-escalation, and life-saving measures.
Learn to operate advanced systems and communication tools.
Stay up to date with certifications and qualifications—because excellence is part of the job.
