Buncombe County is hiring one (1) Deputy Register of Deeds I, an in-person position within the Recording Department. This individual will report to the Assistant Register of Deeds. The Recording Department primarily reviews real estate documents for processing, maintains the public record, and facilitates access to the records. The Recording Department is charged with executing the duties as prescribed by General Statute, regarding real estate recording. The department maintains integrity of the public record and provides a welcoming and safe environment for all members of the public. Responsibilities include document review, collecting of state mandated recording fees, and providing excellent customer service to those with a variety of questions and concerns. The role requires the ability to communicate well, attention to detail, and willingness to learn. This role is a customer support based in a community focused department that values teamwork, professionalism, and proactive service. The employees must relocate or reside within a 2-hour drive from 200 College Street, Asheville NC 28801 within 6 months of hire. The purpose of this position is to perform specialized administrative support/customer service in the filing, indexing, recording, and maintaining of legal documents for the Register of Deeds.
