About The Position

M.C. Dean is seeking a Deputy Project Leader to join their Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit. This role involves designing, engineering, integrating, operating, and maintaining electronic security services, including intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audio visual, IT systems, perimeter defense, and command and control systems for federal, local, and commercial customers. The Deputy Project Leader will be responsible for running day-to-day operations of a project or sub-section of a project, managing change orders, monitoring cash flow, maintaining as-builts, planning project completion, and preparing estimates. They will also confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to resolve issues, communicate with external stakeholders, and manage procurement, resources, rentals, and labor. The role requires ensuring smooth hand-offs and support for installation and engineering teams.

Requirements

  • BS (Preferred EE or Industry related degree) with 5-7 years of experience.
  • Related Construction experience with five years' working for an electrical, security, or construction contractor/integrator.
  • Experience working on construction projects ranging from $500,000 to $10M.
  • Experience working with contract drawings, subcontracts, contract addendums, specifications, change orders, RFIs, submittals.
  • Experience with CPM Scheduling
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints and drawings on projects.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and writing skills and be a problem owner/solver.
  • Proven ability to effectively plan and organize one's own activities or the activities of others.
  • Proficiency with Computers including MS Office, Blue Beam, and PDF.

Responsibilities

  • Run day-to-day operations of a project or sub-section of a project.
  • Identify change orders and ensuring effective resolution.
  • Price, track and manage change orders.
  • Plan and monitor cash flow against cash expenses.
  • Maintain as-builts as work is completed. Document project issues/conditions.
  • Plan and execute project completion and punch list.
  • Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize organize and accomplish your work.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and project specifications.
  • Research and compile submittals; pricing change orders and prepare estimates for partially designed projects by finishing the design and preparing a complete project estimate.
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
  • Communicate with people outside the Company, representing the Company to customers, the public, the government, and general contractor representatives.
  • Clearly understand the timeliness required for decision making, submission of RFIs, and documentation of all verbal conversations or agreements.
  • Responsible for management of procurement, resources, rentals, and labor for projects.
  • Responsible for arranging equipment, documents, plans, and other preparation needed to ensure a smooth hand-off and support for the installation and engineering teams for projects.
