About The Position

As a Deputy Program Manager - Engineering (DPME) for the Fire Control Software Working Group (FCSWG) in the Strategic Mission Systems Business, you will lead a highly skilled cross-functional team responsible for the development, implementation, testing, and sustainment of Fire Control software variants across all platforms. The role involves providing an incremental, innovative software architecture to ensure an updated platform for Navy customers is reliable, maintainable, and future-leaning while maintaining high quality. You will ensure the Strategic Weapon System, which includes Navigation, Missile (Guidance, Reentry, etc.), Fire Control, Launcher, Instrumentation, and all other subsystems meets all new requirements, building off the current architecture to build and field the system through operational test and deployment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within a reasonable amount of time.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Candidate must be local to the area and able to work onsite.
  • Proven communication and ability to interface with internal and customer leadership.
  • Advanced knowledge of technologies, principles, theories and concepts.
  • Strong background in the Fire Control Domain.

Nice To Haves

  • Systems Engineer with a heavy Software Engineering background or Software Engineer with Systems Engineering experience
  • Relevant Computer Science or Software Development background or experience
  • Experience with a diverse customer community, organizational teaming, and relationship building
  • Experience leading teams of 20-25 engineers through large scale system design and implementation
  • Earned Value Management System (EVMS) certified or equitable project management experience
  • Able to work in an Agile framework
  • Strategic Weapon Control Program experience - strategic nuclear ballistic guidance and weapon control systems
  • Navy program experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead a highly skilled cross-functional team responsible for the development, implementation, testing, and sustainment of Fire Control software variants across all platforms.
  • Ensure the Strategic Weapon System meets all new requirements, building off the current architecture to build and field the system through operational test and deployment.
  • Manage engineering resources (e.g. staff assignments, capital equipment, etc.), program management organizational interfaces, and engineering scope.
  • Strategically manage risks, opportunities, and conflict resolution.
  • Foster an environment to motivate and push for professional development for yourself and others while ensuring accountability within the team structure.
  • Identify opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation.
