We are currently seeking a Deputy Operations Director with business development responsibilities sits at the intersection of operational leadership and growth strategy. This role supports the Operations Director in running the organization efficiently while driving revenue, market expansion, and new business opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field
  • 15+ years of proven experience in operations management, program leadership, and strategic planning
  • Experience in business development, sales, or marketing
  • Make timely, informed decisions balancing operational needs with growth opportunities
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with experience hiring, coaching, and mentoring PM and PgM
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to balance operational execution with growth initiatives
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills for internal and external stakeholders

Nice To Haves

  • master’s degree preferred along with PE, PG or PMP
  • familiarity with project management tools

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage day-to-day operations across multiple programs, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic plan, quarterly objectives, and long-term goals.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor operational procedures; ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements; manage audits and corrective actions.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor budgets; forecast, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions to meet fiscal targets.
  • Establish program metrics; use data-driven analysis to improve operations and report impact to leadership.
  • Build and manage high-performing leadership teams; hire, coach, mentor, and conduct performance reviews; maintain succession plans.
  • Identify and assess market trends, customer needs, and potential new markets or services.
  • Develop and manage relationships with partners, vendors, and potential clients to expand reach and revenue.
  • Prepare and present proposals, pitches, and business plans to secure new contracts, grants, or funding.
  • Lead or coordinate projects to increase market share or enter new geographic markets.
  • Lead effort to mine task orders on existing contract vehicles.
  • Represent the organization to external/internal clients, regulators, and community stakeholders, building trust and credibility.
