The Deputy Nursery Manager role offers a salary range of £33,000 to £39,000 (plus discretionary bonus), and is a full time, 40 hours per week position. Requirements

  • Relevant childcare qualification, Level 3 minimum
  • Experience working within management in Early Years
  • Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English including functional skills (if Level 3 qualification obtained after 2014)

Responsibilities

  • Lead nursery operations by ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the setting and maintaining high standards of care, education, and compliance.
  • Manage and develop staff through supervision, appraisals, coaching, training, induction, and professional development opportunities.
  • Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), overseeing safeguarding practices, referrals, staff training, and child protection procedures.
  • Maintain health and safety compliance, including risk assessments, fire drills, medication administration, security, and adherence to Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.
  • Build strong relationships with families, working in partnership with parents to support children's individual needs and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Ensure EYFS and Ofsted compliance by implementing policies, maintaining accurate records, monitoring quality, and leading inspection readiness.
  • Drive high-quality teaching and learning by supporting curriculum delivery, monitoring observations and learning journeys, and promoting best practice in early years education.
  • Oversee staffing and resource management, ensuring appropriate ratios, effective delegation, accurate record-keeping, and efficient use of resources.
  • Support nursery growth and occupancy through parent tours, events, collaboration with admissions teams, and maintaining excellent parent experiences.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive culture by leading by example, encouraging teamwork, championing equality and diversity, and supporting continuous improvement across the nursery.
