The Deputy General Counsel will shape the strategic direction and vision for the regulatory legal team in collaboration with senior legal leaders. This role provides executive leadership, guidance, and oversight to regulatory attorneys, ensuring high-quality legal counsel aligned with business priorities. The position involves mentoring, coaching, and developing regulatory attorneys and high-potential employees. The Deputy General Counsel will partner with business leaders to support decision-making, manage complex regulatory matters, and ensure cross-functional collaboration. This role advises on the impact of local, state, and federal laws, regulations, judicial decisions, and administrative rulings. Responsibilities include leading relationships with outside counsel, coordinating legal strategies, and overseeing preparation and support for subject matter experts, legal staff, and executive leadership on critical regulatory issues. The role requires navigating complex stakeholder environments, influencing outcomes, and proactively addressing regulatory and internal issues. Additionally, the Deputy General Counsel will provide leadership in litigation strategy, including discovery and legal hold processes, and work closely with MISO leadership and the Board of Directors to support organizational oversight and governance. Promoting knowledge sharing, continuous improvement, and alignment with corporate initiatives is also key.
