About The Position

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Deputy General Counsel in the United States. This role offers a unique opportunity for a highly skilled legal professional to assume a strategic leadership position with a clear path to General Counsel. You will partner closely with executive leadership, gaining mentorship while managing complex enterprise-level legal matters. The position involves overseeing a high-performing legal team, advising on diverse areas such as consumer protection, privacy, intellectual property, employment, commercial transactions, and global compliance. You will influence business strategy, provide critical legal guidance, and serve as a trusted advisor across all levels of the organization. Requirements

  • 12+ years of relevant legal experience, including at least 10 years in-house legal counsel roles.
  • Demonstrated expertise in class action litigation, consumer protection, and advising B2B/B2C platform businesses.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex legal concepts in clear, actionable language for diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong experience with domestic and international regulatory matters, including U.S. and international privacy laws.
  • Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and business judgment skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects under tight deadlines and provide proactive legal guidance.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, dynamic work style, and the ability to collaborate across remote and global teams.

  • Interest or experience in leveraging AI to optimize legal workflows and team efficiency is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day operations of the legal department, managing a high-functioning team while ensuring responsiveness, quality, and alignment with business priorities.
  • Advise executives and cross-functional teams on complex legal matters, including privacy, intellectual property, employment, commercial agreements, consumer protection, and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee litigation, disputes, and external counsel engagements, providing strategic guidance and risk management.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to draft, negotiate, and implement commercial contracts and legal policies.
  • Mentor and develop legal staff, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Partner with leadership to define legal strategy, succession planning, and proactive initiatives that support long-term organizational objectives.
