Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator

Travis County•Austin, TX
•Onsite

About The Position

Travis County’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM), a division of Emergency Services, coordinates community disaster preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery. The Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator works under the general direction and guidance of the Chief Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator and helps lead OEM efforts to prepare for, respond to, recover from, and mitigate natural and human-caused disasters. The role works with OEM leadership, municipal partners, first responders, community organizations, contractors, and state and federal agencies, and may support incidents including flooding, hurricanes, severe weather, wildfires, winter storms, and public health emergencies. Two positions are available: Planning and Logistics. The Planning position leads preparedness, response, recovery, and community resilience planning. The Logistics position leads operational readiness, resource tracking, and disaster logistics. Both positions support office activities across planning, operations, finance, and logistics and supervise assigned emergency management programs rather than the entire work unit. The role is primarily in person, at the EOC, in the office, or at locations throughout the county. It requires a flexible schedule, participation in an on-call rotation as the 24-hour duty officer, and work during nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
