About The Position
POLITICO is seeking an ambitious journalist to help edit and lead daily coverage of energy and environmental policy on Capitol Hill. This role is crucial for our subscriber audience, focusing on key committees, leadership offices, and lawmakers influencing U.S. energy, climate, and environmental policy. The position involves covering topics from permitting and infrastructure to agency oversight and legislative strategy, all central to the policy and political fights our subscribers care about.
Requirements
- Reporting or editing experience covering Congress or federal policy.
- A deep understanding of the legislative process.
- Strong news judgment.
- Ability to manage under deadline pressure.
- Eagerness to collaborate with reporters and elevate their work.
Responsibilities
- Help set the daily and long-term editorial agenda for congressional energy and environment coverage.
- Edit stories for style, accuracy, and impact across platforms (E&E, Pro, and politico.com).
- Assist reporters in developing sourcing, delivering scoops, and excelling in breaking news.
- Drive enterprise journalism that illuminates the exercise of power on Capitol Hill.
- Coordinate with energy, environment, and Congress editors across the newsroom.
- Identify opportunities for investigations and projects.
