About The Position

Under general direction of the Director of Public Works, this position provides management oversight and is responsible for the overall operation and performance of one or more divisions within the Public Works Department including, Integrated Waste, Maintenance Services, Fleet Services, Facilities Management, Administration, Engineering, and Transit Services. This current vacancy is to oversee the Fleet and Facility Divisions of Public Works.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Public Administration, Project/Construction Management, Facilities Management, Engineering, Environmental Science or a related field.
  • Six years of recent, progressively responsible public works experience, including at least four (4) years in a management capacity within Fleet Services and or Facilities Management or a closely related field.
  • Valid Class C California driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master's Degree in a related field is highly desirable.
  • Registration as a Civil Engineer with the California State Board of Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, Geologists, and Geophysicists is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service to all employees, customers, vendors and other City departments.

  • Develop necessary skills from on-the-job training and meet standards of performance for the classification by the end of the probationary period.

  • Actively participate in maintaining a secure computing environment by adhering to and implementing City cybersecurity policies, procedures, and best practices. This includes understanding common cyber threats such as phishing and malware, and promptly reporting suspicious activities.
