About The Position

A HSSE Deputy Director at Venture Global would likely play a critical role in supporting the overall Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) strategy and operations for their LNG facilities. This would involve a blend of strategic planning, implementation, and oversight, working closely with various departments and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of study, often in engineering, occupational health and safety, environmental science, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience (often 15+ years, potentially more for a Deputy Director role) in HSSE management within the oil and gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial sectors, particularly with LNG operations.
  • Strong understanding of HSSE regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Experience with HSSE management systems (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
  • Proficiency in incident investigation methodologies (e.g., TapRoot).
  • Knowledge of process safety management (PSM) principles.
  • Excellent leadership, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of an organization.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the development and implementation of HSSE strategies aligned with company goals and industry best practices.
  • Translating strategic objectives into actionable plans for various site operations.
  • Driving continuous improvement in HSSE processes, systems, and overall culture.
  • Providing leadership, support, and advice to site leadership and line management on all HSSE matters.
  • Overseeing the development and improvement of HSSE operational standards.
  • Ensuring sufficient processes and resources are in place to identify and manage business risks in all HSSE areas.
  • Managing and executing site safety strategy and operational action plans in collaboration with operations.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legal, regulatory (e.g., USCG, TWIC, federal, state, local), and internal/industry safety requirements.
  • Monitoring and auditing to support compliance with procedures, policies, and regulations.
  • Working with external agencies, lenders, and clients on HSSE-related audits.
  • Providing support and guidance on incident investigations, particularly for significant incidents.
  • Overseeing the closure of identified corrective actions from investigations.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of the company's safety culture and behavioral-based safety (BBS) programs.
  • Participating in and overseeing HSSE training programs for employees and contractors.
  • Promoting a proactive safety mindset throughout the organization.
  • Potentially managing or supporting the site emergency response function and Emergency Response Team (ERT) members.
  • Assisting with emergency response drills and severe weather/hurricane planning.
  • Managing or overseeing the site-level HSSE Management software (e.g., for incident reporting, BBS, Job Safety Analysis, Permit to Work).
  • Supporting the HSSE elements of the contractor management program, including tender and pre-qualification stages, and conducting contractor audits.
  • Potentially stewarding the annual HSSE budget for the facility.
