About The Position

The Office of the Clerk of Superior Court, Hoke County, is seeking a qualified individual to serve in the position of deputy clerk in the legal system of North Carolina by processing, controlling and maintaining documentation of court cases. As a deputy clerk, you may perform a variety of duties including working in the courtroom, providing customer service, data entry, typing, filing, cash receipting, multi-tasking, and an assortment of other tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 18 years of age.

  • Hoke County residents preferred.
  • Professional experience working in a courthouse or law office.

Responsibilities

  • Process cash receipts.
  • Review, prepare, and process criminal and civil cases including misdemeanors, infractions, divorce, child custody, and juvenile cases.
  • Process cases, produce records, and maintain case files in the courtroom during court sessions.
  • Establish and maintain case files for adoptions, determinations of incompetency, foreclosures, motor vehicle liens, etc.
  • Provide sensitive information for juvenile casework to attorneys, Guardians ad Litem (GAL), the Department of Social Services (DSS), and the Department of Public Safety (DPS).
  • Administer estates of the deceased and explain procedures to family members and other authorized representatives.
