About The Position

The City of Edinburg in Edinburg, TX is actively seeking a dedicated Deputy City Attorney to assist the City Attorney, providing legal counsel in all matters pertaining to the business of the City and represents the City in actions brought by or against the City or against City officials in their official capacity. Requirements

Graduate from an accredited law school
Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas and in good standing with the Texas State Bar.
Five (5) years' experience as a practicing Attorney.
Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Attentive to detail.
Dependability.

Five (5) years' experience in related field.
Bilingual English/Spanish.

Responsibilities

Act as legal advisor to the City Council, City boards and senior City staff.
Reviewing, preparing, or assisting in the preparation of all agendas, ordinances, resolutions, agreements and contracts, leases, legal opinions, deeds, liens, subpoenas, city policies, and all other City related matters.
Draft legislation pertaining to municipalities and monitor state and federal legislative activity.
Representing the City, as legal counsel, in all actions brought by or against the City or against City officials for actions performed in their official capacity.
Assist in recommending, interpreting and implementing policies and procedures.
Providing aide and support to all City officials as needed.
