The Deputy Chief of Staff serves as a senior executive within the Mayor's Office and is a principal advisor to the Chief of Staff and Mayor. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the Deputy Chief of Staff leads strategic initiatives, manages high-priority projects, and helps drive implementation of the Mayor's agenda across Baltimore City government. The Deputy Chief of Staff works across policy, stakeholder engagement, communications, government relations, scheduling and advance, executive operations, and intergovernmental affairs to ensure effective coordination of the Mayor's priorities. The position requires exceptional judgment, political acumen, discretion, and the ability to lead complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders. The Deputy Chief of Staff serves as a proxy for the Chief of Staff when delegated and may represent the Chief of Staff in meetings, executive discussions, and interagency coordination. In the absence of the Chief of Staff, the Deputy Chief of Staff may serve as Acting Chief of Staff as designated by the Chief of Staff and Mayor.
