About The Position

University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) solicits private funding to support the University’s strategic goals in teaching, learning, and research, working across the University and its schools and colleges to secure and steward gifts and pledges for student aid, faculty support, academic and research programs, facilities, infrastructure, and the endowment. As part of NYU’s Development and Alumni Relations Senior Vice President (SVP) Suite, the Deputy Chief of Staff serves as a senior operational partner to the Chief of Staff and a key operational resource within the Suite. Under the strategic direction of the Chief of Staff and SVP, this role directs the SVP Suite’s portfolio and project management infrastructure, SVP Board Committee preparation, presentations, and prospect-briefing workflows. The position works with the Chief of Staff and leaders across UDAR and the University to establish systems, timelines, and operating practices that advance high-priority initiatives and provide visibility into progress, risks, decisions, and emerging issues. It also directs interdepartmental projects, particularly board presentations, prospect briefings, and high-level talking points. The role leads the planning, development, and coordination of high-level SVP presentations in partnership with University offices, including talking points, slide decks, speeches and remarks, and other deliverables. It ensures that the SVP, the President, and board members are prepared for prospect-related meetings, working with research teams, fundraisers, and the CRM system. The Deputy Chief of Staff liaises with the Office of the Secretary, the Office of the President, and UDAR leaders; represents the Chief of Staff or SVP Suite on assigned matters within delegated authority; supports executive continuity and daily operations; and manages the Suite’s day-to-day budget activity in partnership with UDAR Finance and Business Operations, under the Chief of Staff’s overall oversight.
