About The Position

The City of Airway Heights Fire Department is seeking applications from qualified individuals for the position of Deputy Chief of Prevention. The Department serves a total population of approximately 12,120 year-round residents and operates from one station staffed by 4 career chief officers, 7 career firefighters, and 20 volunteers.

Requirements

  • A minimum of five years of fire and EMS service in a similar or larger sized organization.
  • Current certification as a Washington State EMT-B or National Registry EMT-B.
  • IFSAC/ProBoard Firefighter II, IFSAC/ProBoard Fire Officer I, IFSAC/ProBoard/NFPA/ICC Fire Inspector I.
  • Must possess or obtain a valid state issued driver’s license.
  • The successful candidate will be required to obtain the following certifications within one year of appointment: ICC Fire Inspector II, ICC Fire Plans Examiner, IFSAC/ProBoard Fire Officer II.
  • At the discretion of the Fire Chief, may also be required to obtain IFSAC/ProBoard Fire Instructor I, IFSAC/ProBoard Fire and Life Safety Educator I, and NWCG Firefighter II.
