About The Position

Cook County Bureau of Technology is seeking an experienced Deputy Chief Information Officer, Administration who will collaborate with senior leadership on policy development, strategic planning, and operational direction for a major division within the bureau/department. The role assists in managing day‑to‑day divisional activities, helping to plan, organize, and administer division operations while supporting the implementation of policies and procedures. The position serves in a confidential advisory capacity and reports directly to senior leadership. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • Five (5) years of in information technology, software development, data management, IT infrastructure or directly related experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Engineering.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in software development, data management, or IT infrastructure.
  • Six (6) years of previous management experience.
  • Executive management “C” level experience such as Deputy Chief Information Officer or Deputy Chief Technology Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates in the development of policies, strategic planning, and operational direction.
  • Assist in the management of the day-to-day activities of a major division, or equivalent, in the bureau/department.
  • Works with senior leadership to plan, organize and administer all activities of the division as well as develop and implement policies and procedures.
  • Serves in a confidential advisory role and reports directly to senior leadership.
  • Coordinates with bureau/department management, staff and supervisory personnel to accomplish legislative goals and objectives.
  • Establishes long- and short-term legislative goals and set priorities for the division.
  • Reviews employee knowledge and skill needs and establishes, or coordinates plans for training.
  • Responds to and resolves legislative complaints dealing with service delivery.
  • Research industry practices that reflect the most effective application of information processing technology and resources.
  • Assists in the establishment and implementation of policy changes to unify technology across the bureau/departments and mold performance management.
  • Writes reports from analysis of research or investigation.
  • Consults with and advises user bureau/department management on service requests and problems.
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
  • Works with confidential and sensitive documents related to county-wide usage of computerized systems, security matters related to access and maintenance of data on the county computer systems, and personnel issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
