About The Position

The Lockheed Martin Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) team is seeking a chief engineer to be part of our booster team developing missile defense technology that could forever change our ability to deter and respond to adversity. The selected candidate will join a high performing team as the Deputy Booster Chief Engineer, which is the Technical Authority providing engineering direction and oversight to the design and development of booster segment of the program. The Chief Engineer will cultivate strong relationships with internal and external customer technical staff, provide technical direction to supporting engineers, and develop and execute action plans to resolve issues. This position requires extensive experience in development of hardware and integration of systems from inception to qualification and delivery/fielding.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience as a technical leader, coordinating across multiple teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate successfully both written and verbally across all levels of an organization from entry level to executive Vice Presidents.
  • Significant experience in Aerospace and/or Defense Industry.
  • Detailed knowledge of engineering and program planning throughout development, design, test, qualification and integration phases.
  • Candidates must hold an active U.S. Secret security clearance prior to start date.
  • Must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with troubleshooting test failures.
  • Experience and Familiarity/exposure with a variety of engineering disciplines (systems, mech, propulsion, electrical engineering).
  • Prior experience with launch systems.
  • Prior experience as a Chief Engineer.
  • Strong Mentoring skills as evidenced through active mentoring relationships.
  • Proven experience as a conceptual thinker with the ability to translate into action and results.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with customers and build effective relationships.
  • Strong mission and end-to-end systems expertise.
  • Demonstrated experience with development and delivery of space sub-systems and components.
