This position serves as a Deputy Attorney (Levels I, II, or III), managing the professional litigation of criminal cases to ensure the effective prosecution of felonies and misdemeanors across justice, juvenile, and district courts. Responsibilities include conducting preliminary case reviews, determining formal charges, and overseeing the entire litigation process from arraignment through sentencing. You will lead courtroom proceedings by performing comprehensive legal research, drafting briefs, and delivering the State’s case while negotiating plea agreements and bail conditions with defense counsel. Beyond the courtroom, you will act as a vital legal advisor to law enforcement and county departments. This includes coordinating the preparation of search warrants and affidavits, providing specialized legal training for officers, and assisting in the development of administrative procedures. The role also requires managing public relations—responding to media inquiries and implementing communication policies—while providing essential support to the Civil Division as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the County Attorney’s Office.
