About The Position

The Delaware Department of Justice is seeking a highly motivated and committed Deputy Attorney General (DAG) to serve as general counsel for the Delaware Department of Labor (DOL). This role involves providing legal advice and representation to various divisions within the DOL, including the Division of Employment & Training, Division of Industrial Affairs, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, Office of Occupational & Labor Market Information, and the Industrial Accident Board. The DAG will act as a subject matter expert in Delaware labor laws, assisting with legislation, regulations, procurement, contracts, and Freedom of Information Act requests. The position also requires representation in court and administrative proceedings, and may involve additional assignments as directed by the Department of Justice. The role is based in New Castle County but requires travel within the state.

Requirements

  • Membership in Delaware Bar is required.
  • Demonstrated legal ability.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant laws and court rules.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general counsel to the Delaware Department of Labor, specifically the Division of Employment & Training, Division of Industrial Affairs, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, Office of Occupational & Labor Market Information, and the Industrial Accident Board.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in Delaware labor laws.
  • Provide legal advice on matters related to Delaware labor laws.
  • Provide legal advice on matters related to drafting and reviewing legislation and regulations.
  • Provide legal advice on procurement law compliance.
  • Draft and review contracts and requests for proposals.
  • Provide legal advice on matters related to the Delaware Freedom of Information Act.
  • Provide legal advice on personnel management.
  • Represent DOL or DOL officers and employees in court and administrative proceedings.
  • Assist DOL in other matters and handle additional assignments as directed by the Department of Justice.
