About The Position

The Delaware Department of Justice (DOJ) is seeking a highly motivated and qualified attorney to serve as a Deputy Attorney General in the Family Division's Child Support Unit, located in New Castle County. This is an In-House/Internal recruitment, meaning only current employees of the Delaware Department of Justice are eligible to apply. The Attorney General's Office has a broad responsibility to combat crime, uphold civil rights, safeguard families, fight fraud, and protect consumers in Delaware. The Deputy Attorneys General, with support from various staff, prosecute criminal cases, enforce consumer laws, provide counsel to state agencies, ensure public access to open government, and protect the abused. This specific role involves representing the Division of Child Support Services in achieving agency objectives such as establishing paternity, establishing and enforcing orders for support, collecting support arrears, and providing general guidance and assistance to the Division of Child Support Services. The position involves a high-volume caseload with daily litigation and appellate opportunities.

  • Ability to learn and apply relevant laws, rules of evidence, and court rules.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Membership in the Delaware Bar is not required, but applicant must be eligible for limited admission pursuant to Supreme Court Rule 55.
