About The Position

The Depot Manager will be responsible for leading and managing 3 to 6 distribution yards across North America. They will be responsible for inventory management and are expected to develop specific strategies for each site to help further market penetration of Techo-Bloc products. Depot Manger will work directly with Sales to align company goals and expectations, thus creating an appealing destination for Techo-Bloc customers. The Depot Manager will be required to travel regularly to each of the locations they oversee, visiting each location approximately every month, unless an issue arises that requires more frequent attention at a specific site. This will involve a total of 18 to 36 visits per year, depending on the number of yards managed. The Manager will be accountable for all activities at each site and will provide regular updates and recommendations to the Distribution Operations Manager.

Requirements

  • Driver’s License
  • High school Diploma or Equivalent; and five to seven years related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, clients, customers, and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all employees are properly trained and have the resources needed to successfully complete their jobs
  • Manage time off requests and schedules, through our HRIS system, in coordination with the Yard Coordinator
  • Perform quarterly reviews of the Yard Coordinators to ensure expectations are being met and take appropriate action when needed
  • Partner with the Yard Coordinators to assess the quarterly reviews from the Forklift Operators
  • Travel to all assigned distribution yards
  • Develop a travel schedule that will be approved by the Distribution Operations Manager
  • Book travel events while being responsible and cost effective (company credit card will be issued)
  • Effectively manage time while traveling and maximize activities when visiting the sites
  • Prepare, manage and maintain detailed reports of site visits, ensuring accurate documentation of activities, observations, and required follow-up actions
  • Enforce a regular inventory count in each yard to verify physical counts match the inventory in 365.
  • Validate counts onsite by spot checking several items
  • Monitor the proper turn of inventory onsite (IE, oldest shipped first)
  • Put a plan in place per site to ensure all pallets are properly packaged and stored according to TB standards
  • Monitor items with poor turnover and present a strategy to the Distribution Operations Manager to move these items
  • Create designated areas that are protected from debris to store marketing material
  • Work with Yard Coordinators on yard layouts to increase loading and unloading efficiencies
  • Validate the team is keeping the yard from debris (IE, shrink wrap, bags, connectors, pallets etc.)
  • Work with yard coordinators to identify areas of the yard that need repaired and propose the plan to the Distribution Operations Manager to have these corrected
  • Secure the lawn maintenance contracts per site if required
  • Secure cleaning contract for office space if required or put a plan in place with onsite team to ensure office area is kept clean
  • Fulfilling orders, partial pallets, and sample requests for customers and sales reps
  • Educate the team on the expectations of product quality when pulling orders and samples
  • Validate orders are completed within the allotted time frame and work with the yard coordinators to maximize productivity
  • Monitor loading accuracy, work with yard coordinators to put a plan in place that will reduce/eliminate loading errors
  • Receive invoices, order supplies, create purchase orders
  • Approve and forward all monthly invoices to the AP department promptly
  • Approve purchase requisitions from yard coordinators and place orders for all supplies required at the site (IE, Staples, Uline)
  • Receive all PO’s created in 365 and attach the appropriate information, allowing AP to properly process the payments
  • Ensure a safe work environment for both employees and customers
  • Maintain accurate forklift certification records for the team at each site
  • Purchase all required PPE and train the team on proper use
  • Meet with local municipalities/cities and fire marshals’ when yearly inspections are completed to ensure compliance
  • Keep records and schedule maintenance for equipment
  • Ensure the team is completing all daily onsite maintenance functions (IE, grease chains, check tire pressure and fluids)
  • Secure vendors for maintenance and repairs to existing equipment
  • Ensure all equipment is regularly cleaned, maintained, and in optimal working condition to meet operational standards
