About The Position

The Deposit Operations Director is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational oversight, and risk management of all deposit-related functions, including deposit operations, deposit administration, and deposit systems/applications. This role ensures efficient and compliant delivery of deposit products and services while supporting the bank’s overall growth and operational objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 7–10+ years of progressive experience in banking operations, with a focus on deposit operations.
  • 3–5+ years of leadership experience managing managers or multiple functional areas.
  • Strong knowledge of deposit operations, payment systems, and banking regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing operational risk and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong understanding of core banking systems and digital banking platforms.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • In-depth knowledge of complex regulatory requirements and compliance best practices related to deposits.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
  • Ability to work additional or non-standard hours as needed to meet deadlines or respond to other situations requiring extended availability.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction for all deposit operations and deposit administration functions.
  • Develop and execute strategies to improve efficiency, scalability, and service delivery.
  • Establish departmental goals that are aligned with the bank’s strategic plan.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop management staff; promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in executive and cross-functional committees as a subject matter expert on deposit operations.
  • Oversee all deposit-related processing activities, including ACH, wires, check processing, exception handling, account servicing, document retention, and balancing.
  • Monitor operational performance metrics and implement improvements as needed.
  • Resolve escalations and complex operational issues.
  • Oversee deposit product setup, maintenance, and documentation standards.
  • Maintain and enforce policies and procedures related to deposit accounts.
  • Partner with Compliance to ensure adherence to all applicable regulations and internal policies.
  • Oversee system access controls and data integrity for deposit platforms.
  • Participate in vendor selection, contract negotiation, and ongoing risk assessments.
  • Ensure all deposit operations comply with applicable laws and regulations (e.g., Reg CC, Reg D, BSA/AML, UDAAP).
  • Maintain strong internal controls and audit readiness across all functions.
  • Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Internal Audit on exams, audits, and issue remediation.
  • Partner with Retail Banking and Treasury Management to support product delivery and customer experience.
  • Provide regular reporting to executive leadership on performance, trends, and issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.

  • Possess and maintain a current driver's license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage. Both are required to drive while performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Possess and maintain adequate skills in computer operation, including email, word processing, spreadsheet, and specialty software programs.
  • Possess and maintain adequate typing skills to meet the needs of the position.
  • Possess and maintain adequate math skills to meet the needs of the position. This may include the ability to count currency and coin, calculate interest, balance accounts, add, subtract, multiply, and locate routine mathematical errors.
  • Practice effective and efficient organizational and time management skills.
  • Be able to work with general supervision while performing duties.
  • Use effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. This includes the ability to apply common sense when carrying out instructions, interpreting documents, understanding procedures, writing reports and correspondence, and speaking clearly to customers and employees.
  • Be able to deal with routine problems involving multiple facets and variables in standardized situations.
