About The Position

M.C. Dean is seeking a Deployment Network Specialist 3 to join their Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit. This role will support the O&M Network Engineer in pre-installation, on-site deployment, and go-live testing of network equipment and technology. The specialist will perform on-site network surveys, participate in infrastructure configuration and testing, and be directly involved in hands-on implementation at customer sites. Responsibilities include documentation and revisions of each deployment, providing feedback for future improvements, and ensuring system configuration aligns with DoD security policies. The position requires 100% on-site work at customer facilities, with domestic and international travel expected. The role demands strong analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to quickly learn new technologies, and proficiency in using device command-line interfaces for configuration changes. Experience with cloud environments like AWS and Azure, WAN technologies, Layer 1 technologies, and creating network diagrams is essential. Experience with Juniper/HPE/JUNOS is a plus.

Requirements

Top Secret with SCI eligibility required
Bachelor Degree in an Engineering Field AND 5+ years working experience in a networking role OR 10+ Years work experience in a networking role with a high school diploma / GED.
Strong communication skills and experience using ticketing.

Must hold a valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for international travel.
Ability to identify cable colors, markings or labels.
Detail oriented, with excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and to present complex and technical concepts to non-technical team members.
An ability to learn new technologies quickly.
An ability to develop and follow processes and standard operating procedures.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience with cloud provider environments such as AWS and Azure, with IL-2 or higher experience a plus.
Working knowledge of WAN technology and deployment and troubleshooting different communication circuit types.
Understanding of layer 1 technologies and their capabilities and limitations, including cable management, cable types, media converters, circuits to include CPE, Telco & Demark, etc.
Experience in creating network diagrams, rack elevations, and cable drawings.
System configuration based on DoD security policy and guideline.
Understanding of networking protocols and technologies (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, MPLS, QoS).

Juniper/HPE/JUNOS experience is a plus

Responsibilities

Support the O&M Network Engineer in Pre-Installation, on site Deployment and go-live testing.
Prepare and perform on-site network surveys at customer sites.
Participate in infrastructure configuration and testing activities prior to deployment.
Directly involved in the hands-on implementation at customer site.
Responsible for all the documentation and revisions of each deployment.
Provide feedback to the O&M Network Engineer for future deployment improvements.
Perform root cause analysis to troubleshoot & identify issues at all layers of the network.
Deploy network equipment and technology, with working knowledge in network device configuration, able to use device command line interfaces (CLI) and make configuration changes as needed.
Configure, troubleshoot and manage network security across a multi-enclave environment.
Install routers, switches, firewalls and Security and Encryption appliances.
