About The Position

This position is a manager of nonprofessional positions in a complex work area (Departmental Supervisor-3), providing the oversight and direction for the daily operations in the Data and Specimen Handling Central Receiving unit within the Bureau of Laboratories. The unit must comply with all bloodborne pathogen, bio-safety and chemical safety requirements associated with the receipt and handling of clinical human, animal and environmental specimens; achieve timely distribution to the testing units; oversee specimen result reporting, records retention and disposal, forms management, preparation of statistical reports, archival look-up of patient records via phone, fax and mail request, and specimen transfers to reference laboratories and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention via established federal shipping guidelines. The position participates directly in the development, interpretation, evaluation and recommendation of policies and procedures for the effective operation of data systems within the Bureau of Laboratories; and serves as a laboratory liaison with external agencies to coordinate laboratory activities as required by state and federal directives.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
  • Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation and a criminal records check.
