About The Position

The Department Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations for multiple production departments in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, supervising approximately 15–25 employees throughout the production process. This role works closely with production management to ensure production schedules are met, quality standards are maintained, and operational goals are achieved safely and efficiently. Responsibilities include coordinating workflow, monitoring productivity, maintaining accurate production documentation and paperwork, and ensuring orders progress through the manufacturing process on schedule and according to company standards. The Department Supervisor will lead by example by promoting employee accountability, safety compliance, organization, communication, and continuous improvement while training, coaching, and developing team members on company procedures, quality expectations, and productivity requirements. This position is also responsible for identifying and resolving production issues, reporting quality concerns, correcting paperwork discrepancies, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and collaborating with management and cross-functional teams to support efficient operations and on-time delivery of customer orders.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; previous manufacturing, production, or industrial experience required.
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience preferred, with the ability to oversee multiple departments and supervise 15–25 employees in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control standards, workplace safety regulations, and operational procedures.
  • Proven ability to train, coach, motivate, and hold employees accountable while enforcing company policies, procedures, productivity expectations, and safety guidelines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with supervisors, peers, cross-functional departments, and customer representatives.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and maintain accuracy in production paperwork and documentation.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn company systems, scheduling tools, and production software.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven manufacturing environment while maintaining high standards for quality, productivity, and attention to detail.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality required, with the ability to adapt to changing production schedules and operational demands.
  • Ability to safely operate manufacturing equipment, machinery, and power tools and work in varying environmental conditions including hot, cold, dusty, and physically demanding environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead department operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency goals while ensuring accurate employee attendance and timekeeping practices.
  • Train, coach, and develop employees on safety procedures, quality standards, productivity expectations, and company policies while promoting accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Hold team members accountable for performance, attendance, quality, and compliance with operational procedures and workplace standards.
  • Complete assigned production orders independently, accurately, and within established timelines while maintaining high levels of efficiency and attention to detail.
  • Monitor workflow, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively to meet production schedules, customer requirements, and operational deadlines in a high-volume environment.
  • Maintain organization of work areas, tooling, materials, and inventory to support operational efficiency, minimize downtime, and ensure a safe and clean workplace.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, peers, and cross-functional departments to coordinate operations, resolve issues, and ensure alignment with production goals and objectives.
  • Monitor product quality throughout the manufacturing process, report discrepancies, assist with root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to reduce errors and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, increase productivity, reduce waste, and enhance overall operational efficiency through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Safely operate required machinery, power tools, and production equipment while leading by example in professionalism, safety compliance, and performance standards.
