About The Position

The Department Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations within their assigned area, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency. This role involves managing a team, coordinating work schedules, monitoring department budgets, and collaborating with other departments and management to meet production goals and customer expectations. The supervisor must lead by example, uphold company policies, and actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Drug screening and background check are required.
  • Understanding of Valence Surface Technologies Code of Conduct policy.
  • Ability to understand and institute methods for timely and efficient work completion.
  • Ability to resolve technical problems and challenges by involving the appropriate people.
  • Ability to understand and ably perform (and ensure that others understand and can perform) appropriate and safe techniques for lifting and maneuvering materials in various stages of completion.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring safety consciousness and implementing preventative safety measures.
  • Organizing the assigned area for efficient access to and knowledge of orders in process.
  • Communicating with customer service regarding work status and flow.
  • Maintaining an orderly and well-kept shop environment according to 5S principles.
  • Operating within established safety, quality, and financial guidelines.
  • Monitoring department budget and collaborating with management on improvements.
  • Collaborating with Production Management and supervisors on work schedules.
  • Maintaining schedules and reassigning labor based on workload changes.
  • Ensuring daily tasks are completed to keep production moving.
  • Executing schedules with urgency, focusing on safety, quality, timeliness, and cost.
  • Maintaining and monitoring documentation on all orders.
  • Supervising employees in the department, organizing work, and assigning tasks.
  • Following dashboard requirements and working with customer service to exceed expectations.
  • Communicating regularly with employees and seeking their input for problem-solving.
  • Clarifying responsibilities and expected results for employees.
  • Delegating responsibility and providing adequate direction to employees.
  • Counseling employees on performance issues and providing assistance or training.
  • Initiating disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Working with management and HR to resolve employee issues.
  • Training employees on safety procedures and proper techniques.
  • Ensuring employees understand and perform safe material handling techniques.
  • Instituting methods for timely and efficient work completion.
  • Resolving technical problems by involving appropriate personnel.
  • Participating in improvement teams, Gemba walks, and meetings.
  • Participating in continuous process improvement activities to reduce costs, streamline processes, and increase throughput.
