About The Position

The Department Specialist (Heating Project Coordinator) is responsible for selling all types of Fireplaces, Venting and Fireplace Accessories. Responsible for working with multiple vendors for installations and ordering of Fireplace units and maintaining the proper in-stock levels of merchandise in the Fireplace Area. Responsible for maintaining product knowledge of Fireplaces, Venting, and accessories. Will also assist in maintaining clean and orderly merchandise presentation and overall store cleanliness. Basic understanding and knowledge of wood, gas, pellet and electric fireplaces is preferred. Applicant must possess excellent project management and customer service skills.

Requirements

  • 2+ years successful sales experience or work in the Hearth Industry.
  • Able to work weekends, with limited time off between Labor Day and New Years.
  • Driven, energetic sales professional with strong commitment to customers.
  • Ability to learn quickly and retain information.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High School or GED equivalent.
  • Standing, walking, lifting (up to 25lbs) and climbing.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding and knowledge of wood, gas, pellet and electric fireplaces is preferred.
  • Sense of interior design (preferred).
  • Experience within the residential construction industry, building materials, appliance installation or retail is highly desired
  • Floor sales and/or replenishment experience in a retail environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Project a positive representation of Westlake Ace Hardware.
  • Project a friendly, outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as associates.
  • Greet customers entering and throughout the store.
  • Proactively assist customers in solving problems.
  • Thank customers when finished and when they are leaving the store.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and be extremely diligent with follow-up
  • Ensure all calls are answered promptly, courteously and effectively.
  • Forward any customer complaint that cannot be handled to a member of management.
  • Possess good product knowledge and knowledge of store layout and location of products.
  • Maintain knowledge of the Hearth Industry, Products, and Installation Process.
  • Manage the customer sales process from the beginning to project completion.

  • Manage Installers and Supply Vendor Relationships.
  • Develop and advance Commercial Business to Business (B2B) relationships.
  • Partner with the Westlake B2B Inside Sales team to grow B2B accounts and coordinate discounts.
  • Identify and foster B2B sales growth opportunities with existing and potential customers.
  • Ensure accurate receiving, checking in and stocking of merchandise in the Heating Department.
  • Responsible for cycle counting and maintaining desirable inventory level in the Heating Department.
  • Work with management staff to ensure preventative maintenance and repairs are completed in order to maximize and protect all physical assets (i.e. building, fixtures and equipment).
  • Assist with daily maintenance, orderliness and cleanliness of the sales floor, stock room and outdoor merchandise area, especially in Heating Department.
  • Assist with overall maintenance of the store.
  • Assist with providing a clean and orderly sales floor including end caps and ad merchandise.
  • Assist with merchandise resets throughout store, especially in Heating Department.
  • Ensure signage is current in Heating Department.
  • Communicate any Store Support Center issue to General Manager for follow up.
  • Participate in store meetings.
  • Communicate any merchandising, cost control or sales ideas to General Manager.
  • Be professional in appearance and actions.
  • Provide assistance and coverage for other departments as assigned or requested.
  • Operate forklift and reach truck with proper training.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
