About The Position

Scheels is seeking a Department Manager who will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, maintaining expert-level product knowledge, managing inventory, and ensuring a positive and organized sales floor. The role involves engaging with customers, determining their needs, recommending products, and promoting the Scheels Visa Credit Card. The Department Manager will also lead product knowledge training for other associates and consistently work towards meeting or exceeding personal sales goals. Maintaining a professional appearance, a positive attitude, and a team-oriented atmosphere are crucial. The role requires effective communication with associates, the Scheels Campus, and vendors, as well as ensuring the work area is clean, organized, and meets safety standards. Basic math skills and the ability to work an assigned schedule, including varied hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays, are necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), 1-3 months of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Follow all safety procedures and perform job duties in a fashion that minimizes the risk of injury.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service by seeking out and engaging with customers, going through the steps of the sale to determine their needs, recommending appropriate products, and promoting the Scheels Visa Credit Card
  • Maintain expert-level knowledge in all selling areas, as well as lead product knowledge training for other associates
  • Consistently meet or exceed personal sales goals while delivering a high-quality customer experience
  • Manage inventory by running and analyzing Internal Flash Reports
  • Effectively maintain an organized backstock while ensuring merchandise is properly displayed and replenished on the sales floor
  • Ensures their product is accurately displayed to customers through price tagging, sales stickers, and signage
  • Maintain a professional appearance, positive attitude, and team-oriented atmosphere
  • Communicate professionally with other associates within the store, the Scheels Campus, and Vendors/Sales Representatives
  • Ensures their work area is clean, organized, and meets safety standards
  • Ability to perform basic math; perform operations using units of currency, measurements, and understand percentages
  • Ability to work assigned schedule; may include varied hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
