About The Position

The company is hiring a full-time Department Manager, Wine for its Fleetwood Save-On-Foods location in Surrey, BC. This role requires 40 hours per week and open availability. The successful applicant will be responsible for leading the Wine department, ensuring operational excellence, engaging team members, communicating business objectives, supporting financial analysis, and assisting with sales growth strategies.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of retail experience.
  • Food Safe Certification.
  • Experience and/or knowledge with: Achieving sales targets and profitability.
  • Experience and/or knowledge with: Executing merchandising plans and creating in-store displays to drive sales.
  • Experience and/or knowledge with: Human Resources (e.g. training, development, coaching and mentoring).
  • Experience and/or knowledge with: Employee Relations and knowledge of the collective agreement (if applicable).
  • Experience and/or knowledge with: Scheduling.
  • Proficiency with computer applications.
  • A leader that embodies and demonstrates our leadership competency model through communication, collaboration, initiative and awareness.
  • Self-aware, empathetic, and possess a high level of Emotional Intelligence (EQ).
  • An effective communicator, with interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Proactive in taking initiative with an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Able to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environment while meeting organizational goals.
  • Committed to maintaining department standards with a strong attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring operational excellence.
  • Results-oriented with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the department, acting as a coach, mentor, and resource while fostering a positive team environment focused on Always Customer First service.
  • Ensuring the department executes and achieves operational excellence through customer experience, health and safety, food safety, and merchandising.
  • Engaging and retaining team members through training, performance management, rewards/recognition, and succession planning.
  • Communicating key messages and business objectives to team members in the department, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Supporting the management team in reviewing and analyzing income statements and identifying opportunities to improve performance within the department.
  • Reviewing and interpreting department financial reports and presenting KPIs to the management team.
  • Analyzing business/HR metrics and dashboards of the department.
  • Assisting the management team with implementing strategies to grow sales and customer loyalty.
  • Leading inventory counts/period end of the department and resolving issues as required.
  • Performing all job duties throughout the department as needed, including lifting weight (up to 50 lbs), standing for long periods of time, and working in hot/cold environments.
