About The Position

JAX Mercantile is looking for a hands-on Department Manager for our Footwear Department in Broomfield, CO. This role involves leading a team to provide outstanding customer service, assisting customers with footwear and accessories, and supporting overall department operations. The Department Manager will be responsible for employee orientation and development, scheduling, performance management, and improving customer service. Duties include coordinating with buyers, visual merchandising, inventory management, stocking, and organizing the department.

Requirements

  • Experience and knowledge of outdoor adventure footwear, work boots, western boots, and casual shoes required.
  • Prior top-notch customer service experience.
  • Prior retail lead or supervisory experience.
  • Comfort and adaptability with learning new technology or computer systems.
  • Ability to be flexible and work retail hours.
  • Engaging and positive.
  • Effective trouble-shooting skills.
  • Ability to present and maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Must be available at least one weekend day and at least one week night.
  • Flexible availability required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience and interest in retail leadership preferred.
  • Knowledge of the brands carried by JAX preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team that answers questions about the quality, fit, and function of our footwear and helps our customers locate a specific brand or item.
  • Provide outstanding customer service.
  • Support overall department operations by providing employee orientation and development, scheduling coverage, managing performance, leading by example when assisting customers and finding ways to improve the service provided by JAX.
  • Coordinate with the buyers team to provide feedback on products.
  • Visual merchandising with product displays.
  • Managing inventory, stocking, and organizing the department.
  • Creating schedules two weeks in advance.
  • Ensuring coverage by working with employees or stepping up to fill gaps when necessary.
  • Providing honest and informative answers about our products.
  • Addressing loss prevention concerns.
  • Participating in inventory responsibilities.
  • Assembling new stock.
  • Maintaining a clean and well-stocked area.
  • Complete record-keeping and creating reports.
  • Completes special orders.
  • Coordinates with others to plan for sales and promotions.
  • Ensure proper documentation and pricing of products.
  • Works to engage and inspire teamwork with department employees.
