About The Position

As the Deli Department Manager at the Co-op, you’ll oversee all front and back-of-house deli operations—keeping things running smoothly while inspiring your team to deliver top-quality food and friendly service every day. This role is for an organized leader with a passion for people and good food.

Requirements

Proven leadership and coaching skills with a hands-on, supportive approach
Strong understanding of food safety, deli operations, and health regulations
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and stay calm under pressure
Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills and financial awareness
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and digital communication tools (like Teams and email)
Dependable, self-motivated, and dedicated to quality, consistency, and teamwork
High school diploma or equivalent required
Minimum 3 years of experience as a department manager in retail or food service
Extensive knowledge of deli operations and food handling practices
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
Must successfully pass a criminal background check

Responsibilities

Lead and manage all aspects of daily deli operations, ensuring food safety, quality, and excellent customer service.
Hire, train, and develop team members while fostering a culture of accountability, respect, and growth.
Plan schedules and manage labor to meet department needs and financial goals.
Monitor and maintain compliance with all food safety and sanitation standards.
Oversee ordering, inventory, and product rotation to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
Track department performance, meeting or exceeding sales, labor, and margin goals.
Collaborate with Category Management and Marketing teams to execute promotions and maintain recipe and product accuracy.
Ensure smooth coordination between kitchen, front of house, and other departments.
Review and improve workflows to boost efficiency and team productivity.
