About The Position

The Department Manager, Dairy is responsible for planning and maintaining production processes within the production department, ensuring food quality and food safety. This includes adherence to Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Safe Quality Foods (SQF), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). The role also focuses on ensuring associate safety by complying with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, and on developing, training, and mentoring production department associates. This involves participating in the interview and selection process, executing, administering, and training associates on Publix, Manufacturing, and plant policies, providing direction, encouraging, motivating, building morale, and evaluating performance. Additionally, the manager will identify and ensure the execution of continuous improvement opportunities to enhance associate and asset productivity.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience
  • Three years of experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent experience
  • Two years of leadership experience or equivalent experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Certified Food Safety Manager certification
  • Strong managerial and leadership skills
  • Willingness to work a variable schedule including nights, holidays, and weekends
  • Ability to be on call 24 hours/7 days per week
  • Ability to travel with overnight stays
  • Communication skills (in both written and verbal format)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Access, Outlook, Word)
  • Ability to be innovative

Nice To Haves
