About The Position

Southeastern Louisiana University's College of Science and Technology invites applications for the position of Department Head for The Department of Industrial and Engineering Technology (IET). The Department is seeking an innovative, dedicated leader to serve as Department Head. This position requires a collaborative and strategic leader to guide the department in achieving academic and administrative excellence. As the chief academic and administrative officer of the IET department, the Department Head will foster a culture that prioritizes and celebrates teaching, research, service, and industry collaborations. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to advancing the department's mission and have a proven track record of academic leadership, budget management, and fostering research and academic excellence. The Department Head is active in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and maintains a research program appropriate for a department in a college with undergraduate and master's degree programs.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree in a discipline closely related to Engineering, Industrial Technology, or OSH&E by hire date.
• A proven record of excellence in research, teaching, and leadership, with qualifications that support appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.

Responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership and serve as the primary liaison connecting faculty with university administration, as well as faculty with students.
• Oversee curriculum development and implementation across three academic programs: Industrial Technology (IT), Engineering Technology (ET), and Occupational, Safety, Health and Environment (OSH&E), ensuring alignment with industry trends and academic standards.
• Lead efforts to assess student learning outcomes and program effectiveness.
• Manage and allocate the department’s budget to effectively support academic, research, and operational needs.
• Champion and expand high-impact research initiatives by driving interdisciplinary collaboration and helping faculty to secure external funding.
• Foster an inclusive environment that supports faculty development and rewards excellence in teaching, research, and service.
• Drive initiatives that align with department, college, and university strategic goals, advancing the reputation and impact of the department's degree programs.
