About The Position

Performs a variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties such as maintaining records and files; composing and editing correspondence; data entry; and/or office management.

Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma and either a paralegal certificate or 5 -6 years of successful clerical performance, ideally in a legal office.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Patient and detail-oriented person who can interact with faculty and staff in a pleasant and cooperative manner.
  • Able to work under pressure of deadlines.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TypePad.
  • Sufficient computer skills to be able to input information into a computer case management system.

Responsibilities

  • Provides clerical and administrative assistance to clinical programs, as assigned by the Associate Dean or Experiential Learning Coordinator, including, but not limited to: copying, filing, maintenance of records, and preparation of client and clinic documents and court filings; obtaining research materials; supporting classroom needs including helping to maintain D2L for clinics; distributing mail; drafting correspondence; making room reservations, ensuring proper technical and AV equipment is available, and handling catering requests.
  • Assists the Experiential Learning Coordinator with department-wide tasks, such as: ordering of supplies and equipment; updating the website; coordinating program-wide marketing and communications, assistance with program recruitment and enrollment, recording and reporting of student time sheets and coordination with University Financial Services.
  • Works with faculty and students to interpret or translate conversations with clients or other officials from English to Spanish.
  • Assists students and clients with operational and scheduling issues concerning the clinics.
  • Provides front desk reception support.
  • Will be required to assist College of Law Associate Dean's office with final exam administration each semester.
  • Occasionally will be asked to assist with College of Law special events including student recruitment events, seminars, conferences and commencement.
