About The Position

The Department Administrator provides high-level administrative, operational and strategic support to the Chair. This role supports effective functioning of the department and requires discretion, sound judgment, and the ability to manage complex priorities across teaching, research, service, and administrative domains. Serves as a key liaison between the Chair and faculty, staff, students, college administration, central university offices, and external partners and works in direct consultation with the Chair and the Department Administrator. Additionally, coordinates the administrative and organizational functions of the Chair’s research team, departmental research facilities, and external research partnerships. Manages operating budget and keeps the Department Chair apprised of available funding and potential issues for activities associated with the role. Evaluates department policies and processes and makes recommendations to improve and streamline operations. Responsible for hiring, training/development, performance management and work delegation of student worker.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • 3+ years relevant administrative experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, spreadsheet and database applications.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a range of personalities and develop strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint & Google calendar.

Benefits

  • The annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $85,000.00.
