About The Position

This position involves learning the fabrication and repair of dental prosthesis and appliances such as dentures, partials, crowns, bridges, and implant restorations. The role requires understanding tooth morphology and anatomy, interpreting dental prescriptions, and becoming familiar with a wide range of dental materials. The Denture Setter will learn to construct fixed or removable appliances to restore natural teeth and correct dental irregularities, with a potential focus on constructing partial or full dentures. The position also includes familiarizing oneself with and practicing the use of various hand tools and equipment, documenting learning through quizzes and worksheets, and working under supervision to understand quality standards and problem identification. The goal is to develop the technical knowledge to make decisions in fabricating dental prosthesis and to work independently while seeking help when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Learn basic tooth morphology and anatomy.
  • Fabricate and repair dental prosthesis and dental appliances such as dentures, partials, crowns and bridges, inlay/onlay, veneers, and implant restorations.
  • Read and interpret dental prescriptions.
  • Become familiar with a wide range of materials and their use in fabricating dental restorations.
  • Restore natural teeth and correct dental irregularities by manufacturing fixed or removable appliances.
  • Develop technical knowledge to make decisions when fabricating dental prosthesis.
  • Replace partial or total loss of natural teeth by constructing partial or full dentures (metal and non-metal).
  • Become familiar with the names and functions of various types of hand tools and equipment.
  • Practice using various types of hand tools and equipment.
  • Document learning by completing quizzes and worksheets.
  • Work under supervision of trainers, and ask for assistance and/or clarification regarding technical issues.
  • Learn quality standard protocol, and steps taken to ensure compliance with protocol.
  • Recognize problem cases that need additional prep work.
  • Work independently and seek help if needed.
