About The Position

River Valley Family Health Centers is looking for a Dentist to join our clinic in Montrose, CO. The Dentist provides consistent high-quality care to patients and evaluates the needs of patients at River Valley Family Health Center (RVFHC). This position is responsible for providing clinical dental services and preventive dental care in a community health center setting. The staff dentist supervises the dental assistants and dental hygienists of the community health center in the absence of the dental director. The Dentist position is a full-time, salaried exempt position; 40 hours per week. We are a growing, exciting place to work, serving our community in a variety of ways. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited dental school.
  • Unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the State of Colorado, DPS, and DEA registration.
  • Ability to travel between clinics as needed.
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with team members, patients, families, and others.
  • Ability to utilize a computer for time keeping, documenting electronic medical records, and to complete follow-up tasks.
  • A caring, kind, and professional bedside manner.
  • Ability to be a team player and to support and assist team members as needed.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of public health principles and practices preferred.
  • Bilingual candidates are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Examining individuals requesting care, diagnosing their dental/oral conditions, prescribing and carrying out, or directing others in carrying out, appropriate dental/oral treatment, or referring individuals for specialty consultation or treatment in conformance with approved clinical protocols and guidelines.
  • Appropriately recording and documenting all patient-dentist transactions in the patient’s dental records as they occur so that the dental record accurately and completely reflects the nature of the contact, the condition of the patient, and the care or treatment provided.
  • Examining teeth, gums, and related tissues, using dental instruments, x-rays, or other diagnostic equipment, evaluating dental health, diagnosing diseases or abnormalities, and planning appropriate treatments.
  • Supervising the dental assistants and dental hygienists of the community health center in the absence of the dental director.
