About The Position

NaphCare is hiring a Dentist to join their team of medical professionals in the G.K. Fountain Correctional Facility in Atmore, Alabama. As a Correctional Dentist, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide dental care to the incarcerated individuals in residence. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical and dental needs.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or equivalent.
  • Experience in clinical dentistry and correctional settings preferred.
  • Valid dental license in the state where the facility is located.
  • Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred).
  • Current DEA registration.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Technical skills in providing a full range of dental services.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
  • Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues.
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring quality dental care is provided to protect the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population.
  • Diagnosing, treating, and providing preventative care for patients.
  • Creating treatment plans and performing dental procedures, such as extractions and restorations.
  • Educating patients on proper oral hygiene practices.
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed patient dental records.
  • Collaborating with other medical professionals to ensure staff are responsive to patients’ oral health needs.
