About The Position

Smile Maryland, a school-based mobile dental practice, is seeking a Part-time (Wed/Fri) Dentist in Prince George's and Baltimore, MD and the surrounding areas to help provide dental care to underserved children at their school. This innovative in-school dental program offers a unique work experience different from a traditional dental practice, with a workday that ends with the school day and no nights or weekends. It's ideal for dentists looking to supplement income, working parents, recent graduates, those nearing retirement, and anyone passionate about making a difference in the dental field. Smile Programs is the nation's leading in-school dental program, founded almost two decades ago by two dentists who recognized the significant need among underserved school-aged children lacking easy access to dental care. These children often suffer from poor oral hygiene, tooth decay, pain, and associated medical problems. Understanding that many parents face challenges like time off from work and transportation, the founders aimed to bring dental care directly to the schools. Today, through its dental partners, Smile Programs provides preventative and restorative care to approximately 500,000 children annually. Tooth decay is the most common preventable disease among children, leading to over 51 million lost school hours each year. Smile Programs affiliates with state-licensed dentists, hygienists, and assistants who utilize state-of-the-art portable equipment to deliver all services onsite, either directly in school classrooms, auditoriums, or other venues transformed into fully functional dental offices, or in self-contained mobile dental facilities. With years of experience and highly qualified staff, the program ensures exceptional care with minimal disruption to the normal school routine. Smile Programs is active in 20 states and partners with over 8,000 school districts, including 21 of the 25 largest in the country. The demand for these services is high, and the company continuously seeks caring, compassionate professionals to join its team and contribute to improving the lives of underserved children.
